Lizards & Luxuriant Leaves ... Leaving Getty Villa

Los Liones Drive runs through the new Los Liones Canyon Park in the Santa Monica Mountains, near the Getty Villa. A mural honoring the area's flora and fauna caught my eye, so we made a quick stop.
Next time we aim for Malibu, I hope there'll be time... and that we'll be equipped to enjoy a hike here.

Luxuriant leaves of Imperial Taro - Colocasia 'Illustris'

As part of the Getty Villa's recent renovation,
the bold square shape of a contemporary fountain anchors the landscape architecture near the cafe.

Water cascades down along segments of the textured travertine stone walls.

Detail .. Los Liones Drive mural.

Overview: Cascade stirs the surface of the fountain's black marble pool.

  2. I really like the choice of colours in the mural especially the rabbit one. Oh to be able to grow a Colocasia. They come as huge big "bulbs" here but its hard to get them to grow those lovely big leaves here - the season is just too short and we have to wait until the frosts are over till we can plant them somewhere wet and damp. Happy Christmas to you :)from a snowy freezing Perthshire.

  5. Hello Alice,

I love the gorgeous murals. I especially like the California Poppy pictured. We have murals along the freeway that runs in Scottsdale, AZ. They are beautiful and I have to work hard at paying attention to the traffic because I love to look at them as I drive by.

Dear Leaves... I have the same problem with Colocasias here in Northern CA... where nights are cool even on very hot days. I've witnessed the demise of some beautiful varieties ;(
Snowy Perthshire sounds wonderfully picturesque & Christmasy... Happy, happy holidays to you, too!
