  6. Having a water feature is so important. Love two of the water fall pictures (picture 3 and 4). They are very interesting.

  8. Oh Alice! Lovely, just lovely I want to see them all in real life. I've only seen the Parc Andre Citroen (which was WONDERFUL) so my list has started but wow, so many to see.... xxx I think the Napa one is going to be my 'safe place' in my head for the next few days - fab photo!

  10. A lovely, refreshing way to wind out the old year, Alice, and bring in the new. I learned on my trip to Kansas City last year that it's the city of fountains, having more public fountains than any city other than Venice, I think the claim is. I saw quite a few and they were lovely. Here's to a bright and splashy-shiny new year!

  13. Great idea, Alice. I love the symbolism of running water to celebrate the New Year: rushing on and moving forward. I clink my champagne glass to your fountains!

  17. These make a wonderful contrast to the soggy garden I can see outside... some food for thought for garden visits for 2010 - have a very Happy New Year for 2010 - best wishes Miranda

  18. This is a really nice collection of fountains. I like the one at Villa D'Este and also the hotel. Looks like a cozy space.

What is that glass structure in the background of the last photo? I can't tell if I'm missing something or if I can see straight through that building?

  19. Pleased to provide a respite from the wintery weather, my friends!

    Steve,
Your plumbing is greatly appreciated by all who visit Portland's Chinese Garden ;~D

    Wendy,
There are two glass houses that flank the main fountain at Parc Andre Citroen. I've not entered these buildings, but believe that one or both function as an orangery to protect potted citrus plants, etc., over the winter months.
